Hair Transplant FAQs- Answered By Dr. Manas Jain

Hair transplantation is a medical treatment that involves removing your own hair follicles from one place of your body and transplanting them to another. The “donor area” is the location from which the hair follicles are taken, and the “recipient area” is the location where the hair follicles will be transplanted.

The hair transplant process can be used to restore one’s eyelashes, eyebrows, beard, chest hair, pubic hair, and head hair, and it is typically used to treat male or female pattern baldness. This therapy is also utilized for patients who have scars from accidents, as it helps to conceal the scars with hair.

Though it is one of the most popular hair restoration methods, still due to some misconceptions & lack of knowledge some of the patients are afraid to opt for this. They have several questions in their mind but no one to answer their queries. Though there are some online resources available, you simply can’t trust everything available online.

You might be one of them, but you need not worry as in this article, Dr. Manas jain who is one of the best hair transplant doctors in Mysore will address the most frequently asked hair transplant questions.

What are the various hair transplantation methods?

Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) or the Strip Method is one of the two main procedures used in Mysore, while Follicular Unit Extraction is the other (FUE). DHI and Robotic hair transplant are two more ways you may have heard of, and they are simply modified variations of the FUE process.

  1. a) Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT): A tiny strip of hair is surgically taken from the donor area in this hair restoration treatment, also known as the strip procedure (usually the back of head). The strip’s follicular units, which include 1-3 hairs, will be removed and implanted on the recipient area.

In comparison to its replacement, the FUE procedure, this procedure is employed less frequently. This procedure results in the creation of an unsightly scar on the back of the skull.

  1. b) Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE): In this procedure, the doctor or technician manually removes hair follicles from the donor area of the patient (usually the back of the head). Hair follicles are harvested and transplanted in the recipient area or where the patient is experiencing hair loss or baldness.

This is the procedure that does not leave a huge scar like the FUT. However, because the procedure is manual, it takes longer and the number of grafts that can be implanted in a single session is lower than with FUT.

  1. c) Direct Hair Implantation (DHI): Direct Hair Implantation is a modified variant of Follicular Unit Extraction that is less complicated. During this surgery, they employ specialized pen-shaped equipment that can extract as well as implant follicles.
  2. d) Robotic Hair Transplant: The ARTAS robotic hair transplant robot will execute this hair restoration treatment. This robot improves the speed, accuracy, and consistency of manual hair transplants by utilizing advanced digital imagery and algorithms.

Who is eligible for a hair transplant?

Hair loss affects both men and women for the reasons outlined above. Hair loss can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, accidents, aging, and medical conditions such as alopecia. Hair transplantation can only be done if the patient is over 25 and has a sufficient amount of hair in the donor area.

Is it painful to have hair transplants?

You will be given local anaesthetic to numb the donor and recipient areas during the hair transplant procedure. During the extraction and implantation of the hair follicles, there is some discomfort. Dr. Manas advises that if you have a lot of pain during the treatment, you should tell your doctor. It’s possible that the donor or recipient areas aren’t anesthetized properly.

Where does the hair for the hair transplant come from?

Hair follicles from any part of the body can be used in this treatment. The hair will be extracted from your donor area at the back of your head if you have one. When the donor area is insufficiently haired, hair from the arms, chest, beard, armpits, or pubic area is harvested.

What is the hair transplant success rate?

The success rate of hair transplantation in Mysore is astonishingly high when performed correctly by an expert surgeon. As previously said, if the treatment is performed by a skilled surgeon, the precise spacing between implanted hair, angle, and density will be ensured.
