What is Eye Floaters?
Patients will often see black spots of various shapes and sizes in front of their eyes, or filaments, bubbles, or block floats flying with the eyeballs, like mosquitoes flying in front of them, so it is called floaters. It is usually only discovered when the patient looks at beautiful backgrounds such as blue sky and white walls. Myopia, the elderly, and diabetic patients are high-risk patients for floaters.
Types of Floaters
There are several different types of floater, including:
- Cobweb / Fibrous Strand Floater
- Diffuse, Cloud-Like Floater
- Weiss Ring Floater
Symptoms of Eye Floaters
Floaters can be divided into two kinds of benign and malignant, usually if there are two floaters phenomenon, can not determine that one eye floaters, if they have a long elapsed time, and these phenomena do not aggravate or produce Changes, the position of the floaters also began to fix, which is benign.
Sudden floating mosquitoes, increasing concentration of single eyed floating mosquitoes, indeterminate flying direction of mosquitoes, and other symptoms, such as dark shadows covering the field of vision and deterioration of vision, are the precursors of vicious floaters.
What Causes Eye Floaters?
The vitreous body in the eyeball of a protein like an egg as a clear gum. When the light enters the eyeball, passes through the cornea and lens, it is projected through the vitreous body to present the image on the retina. If this transparent body becomes turbid, floating objects will be produced. In addition, foreign bodies or parasites in the eyeballs can also cause drifting objects in the eyes.
If you suffer from serious eye diseases such as retinal detachment, omental hemorrhage, optic neuritis, etc., it will cause disease changes in the retina, optic nerve, ciliary body, etc. near the vitreous. With aging, the vitreous body will “liquefy” and produce some turbidity. When the vitreous body is liquefied to a certain extent, it will shrink into a ball and leave the retina, which is called “vitreous detachment.”
Self Treatment
As floaters may be a symptom of a serious disease, patients must go to an ophthalmologist for examination. If it is found to be benign floaters, although there is no special treatment method, it will not affect the body, so there is no need to pay special attention to it. However, if it is accompanied by eye pain and other vision problems, you must consult a doctor.
Treatment for Rye Floaters
If the condition is so serious that it bothers the patient, the original disease causing floaters should be found and treated to cure the disease. The doctor will use ophthalmoscopes to observe the inside of the eyeball before deciding on the treatment.
Prevention There
It is no special prevention method for floaters, so the most important thing is to get enough sleep regularly and not to over-strain your eyes.
